Who is Petalura?

We're a team of merchants, designers, photographers, copywriters, stylists and art directors who met in 2004 while working on the National Geographic gift catalog and online store. In late 2017 we launched Petalura to share our love of global craft and design, and to highlight unique artisan-made goods from around the world.

Petalura is named for a species of dragonfly, a symbol of change, transformation and adaptability. Dragonflies spend most of their lives underwater before emerging in their most splendid, iridescent form. It's a metaphor we've grown to love: coming out of a period of change brighter and stronger.

The opportunity:

What you'll do:

  • Pack orders beautifully to delight our customers
  • Pick orders and check quality
  • Ship and receive
  • Kit and prep products
  • Restock and keep track of inventory
  • Keep packaging supplies stocked and organized

We're looking for someone who:

  • Is eager to learn how to delight customers with beautifully presented packages (the most important part of the job)
  • Is friendly and energetic
  • Is detail-oriented and confident in their accuracy
  • Is a self-starter who finishes what they start
  • Has good manual dexterity and can lift boxes of 25–30 lbs

This job is not for someone who:

  • Isn't interested in learning new skills
  • Only works hard when a boss is watching
  • Isn't interested in taking on responsibility
